Fun facts

6% of scientists are Republican. Must be those pesky evolution and global warming facts.

64% of Americans believe the story of Noahs Ark is true. Yep. 2 of every animal/insect species (in the millions if not billions) on a boat to escape a flood of mammoth porportions that has zero historical evidence in order to repopulate the entire earth. Marinate on that one for a minute.

Human "Being."

I suppose it goes against a lot of peoples belief, (specifically the Christian viewpoint that we are all born sinners and dirty,) but i believe that people are innately good. Its the attachment to what our brain tells us that pulls us away from that. I've come to realize that the best of life arises from beyond the brain. Think about it. Love, creativity, passion, and peace are all things that can exist without the brain. Sure the brain can label and focus based on our individual perceptions but its not necessary. In fact the brain is typically responsible for the attachment or fear of losing these things. Judgement, jealousy, greed etc. A healthy brain will compliment beauty, and an unhealthy one will be threatened by it. Imagine if a flower had to deal with the mental noise of a brain while it is blossoming under a bright sun- "Fuck its hot out here," "that flower over there is so much nicer than i am," "can i get some damn water pls," it would be a constant distraction from the beauty of what is actually happening. How many of us miss the important stuff because we are stuck in our heads. I know Ive given a significant portion of my life to the madness. Underneath all of that noise is a human "being" as opposed to a human "doing." The constant "chase" and the attachment to the "story" of ourselves and how we want to be seen by others can be exhausting. Truth is if we let our walls down and were authentic, even vulnerable, the radio station in our heads would quiet down. That would allow the innate goodness thats in all of us to come through without all the filters we put into place to protect us.

More goodness from Shanepowers.com: Stem Cells

It's just never easy.

These are stem-cells. They are takin from embryos. In some belief circles, embryos are human beings, and thus the use of stem cells for scientific research is a bad thing.

That's the basic deal anyway.

Stem cells are amazing because they can morph or become what you want them to. The cell doesn't know what it is yet, and it will, evidently, become what a scientist can manipulate it to become.

I'm obviously in over my head with the verbage and completely understanding the process. BUT I DO KNOW THIS.....

There's a 16 yr old kid somewhere, who was paralysed in an accident, and it's been proven that stem cells, with enough study, could be used to REGROW spinal tissue, allowing this kid to maybe walk.

Republicans, because of their ties to the Christian right voting bloc, have accepted the stance that they are against stem-cell research, which is the silliest thing fuckin ever.

STEM Cells and the process in which they are harvested, is not an ANTI-LIFE process.

This issue and many other moral issues like this are the main reason why seperation of church and state need to exist.

Our government should be committed to the advancement and the betterment of human kind, and we should fund and support science, especially when it's a certainty that major breakthroughs are close to happening.

Because YOU BELIEVE MORALLY that it's wrong, shouldn't affect me. It's the whole freedom of religion thing. And your religious beliefs shouldn't dicate the way government spends money to benefit the planet.

FACT.

I'm happy you have a way of seeking God. Please, again, for the trillionth FUCKING TIME, don't impress your value set on me.
